Lil Wayne Album Pushed Back Again To July

Lil Wayne’s new album Rebirth has pushed back from from June 23 to July 21.

Rebirth was originally supposed to hit shelves in April, but since then it has been pushed back times.

This is officially album push-back number 5.

It is unclear if the several tracks that have leaked on the net will be included on the CD, tracks like “Politics” with Gudda Gudda or “Spit In Your Face” with Kevin Rudolf.

According to Rolling Stone however, the leaked song “Fix My Hat” will be on Rebirth.

In April it was reported that Universal wants to the release Weezy’s Young Money compilation on the same date as Rebirth, which is complicating the drop date. As of press time it is uncertain if that is still the case.

Jay-Z Buys Out Of Def Jam Contract

Jay-Z has reportedly bought his way out of album obligations with Def Jam records.

Jay-Z had one contractual album left with the label, presumably the “Blue Print 3” release. However, it appears as if Jay is ready to move on and will allegedly be releasing the highly anticipated LP via his Live Nation partnership, Roc Nation.

Speaking to RapRadar, Jay confirms the move which allegedly ran him about $5 Million.

“I can honestly say, working with Doug Morris and LA Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience and I respect them immensely. I’ve been in the family for almost my entire career.

Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique “negotiations” ever.Doug won the toss but, we both won in the end..

I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music.”

Man Charged In Dolla Murder Says "Self-Defense"

The man arrested in connection of the murder of rapper Dolla was officially charged murder Wednesday (May 20), but he’s saying it was self-defense.

According to an Associated Press report, 23-year-old Aubrey Louis Berry was charged with murder and a pair of assault charges in connection with Monday’s shooting at Los Angeles Beverly Center shopping mall.

He appeared in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday, and had his bail raised to $5 million. But, he has yet to enter a plea. That will take place during a Friday (May 22) court hearing.

Berry’s attorney, Howard R. Price, said his client was acting in self-defense when he killed Dolla, and fired at two other people.

Price said Berry feared for his life after he and Dolla (real name: Roderick Anthony Burton II) had an altercation at an Atlanta nightclub earlier this month.

He went on to say that it was a coincidence that the two men ended up in Los Angeles at the same restaurant (P.F. Chang’s China Bistro) on the same day and at the same time. And accused Dolla and his crew of being affiliated with the Crips gang — one of the reasons his client feared for his life.

According to Berry, Dolla threatened him in the restroom and followed him to the valet area, and that’s why he opened fire.

Berry was arrested shortly after the shooting at LAX, with a loaded 9mm handgun tucked into his waistband. He said he was leaving L.A. because he feared for his safety.
